NEWS FLASH!!!  Second Saturdays in Media...

 

Tuscarora Lapidary Society is now participating the Second Saturday program in Media, PA.  This is a monthly event with galleries, businesses, and the TLS Skill Center are open from 6pm to, at least, 9pm.  The event is coordinated by the Media Art Council

 

The 2009 dates will be published here when available.


General meetings begin at 8:00pm at the Springfield Township Municipal Bld. (Powell Rd.) Delaware County, PA.


September 2009: TLS member Pete Santucci will give a Power Point presentation on a project that he and his wife worked on to make a scale model of an historic home. Pete will highlight the various phases of building the model and discuss some of the challenges of the project as well as the skills and artistry involved.


October 2009: Jim Johnston will speak on the Gemarama theme: Gems in Myth, Legend, and Lore.


November 2009: Gary of Garys Gem Garden will give a talk on collecting meteorites with a lapidary perspective. He will have some examples of meteorites to pass around.


December 2009: December will be the TLS General Meeting and elections followed by the holiday celebration. You will be able to sample some delightful pastry offerings from your fellow members and they look forward to sampling the special food that you will bring.


 

LAPIDARY INSTRUCTION

 

TLS offers a series of classes and workshops on lapidary subjects in Media, PA,   Instruction is presented at the TLS Skill Center, 105 W. Jasper Street.  The Center is comprised of work space for cutting, trimming, grinding, sanding, polishing, and faceting. TLS provides suitable lapidary materials for beginners.  Classes are also offered in many jewelry arts such as beading, wire wrapping, and metal work.

 

  WINTER CLASSES

 

Classes begin at 7:30pm and end at 9:30pm except for weekend workshops.

For new students and those honing their skills in cutting and polishing stones.  Instructor:  Margie Marshall.
