NEWS FLASH!!!  Second Saturdays in Media...

 

Tuscarora Lapidary Society is now participating the Second Saturday program in Media, PA.  This is a monthly event with galleries, businesses, and the TLS Skill Center are open from 6pm to, at least, 9pm.  The event is coordinated by the Media Art Council

 

The 2009 dates will be published here when available.


General meetings begin at 8:00pm at the Springfield Township Municipal Bld. (Powell Rd.) Delaware County, PA.


January 2010: The DVD "Rhodochrosite: Red Treasure of the Rockies" was presented.


February 2010:  Cancelled.  Show and tell of rare, interesting or unusual lapidary and non-lapidary items presented by TLS members. Therefore we are calling on the membership to put on a interactive program by bringing in a rare, interesting or unusual item from their collection to the February general meeting for a show and tell.


March 2010:  The March meeting was a silent auction of equipment, lapidary rough, and mineral specimens.

 


 April 2010:

John O'Hara will give a talk on the process of porcelain manufacturing and he will have some pieces from his collection to display.


May 2010: 

The MAY 2010 meeting was a silent auction of equipment, lapidary rough, and mineral specimens.


June 2010:  The June meeting will be the TLS annual Banquet and awards Ceremony.


 

LAPIDARY INSTRUCTION

 

TLS offers a series of classes and workshops on lapidary subjects in Media, PA,   Instruction is presented at the TLS Skill Center, 105 W. Jasper Street.  The Center is comprised of work space for cutting, trimming, grinding, sanding, polishing, and faceting. TLS provides suitable lapidary materials for beginners.  Classes are also offered in many jewelry arts such as beading, wire wrapping, and metal work.

 


SUMMER CLASSES

SUMMER Session Skill Center Classes Begin July12, 2010

The Summer Class Session will begin July 12, 2010, at the L. Howard Freeman Skill Center. All classes are 5 weeks unless otherwise noted, they run from 7:30 to 9:30pm; weekend-workshop times are as noted. Tuition is $50 per 5 week class. Weekend-workshop tuition is as noted.

The registration deadline is June 25, 2010; acceptance or rejection notices and a list of required materials will be sent after the deadline, before classes start. Students are enrolled in the order that checks and registration forms are received.

 

Please note: Checks for full tuition must accompany the form in order for a registration to be accepted.

Tuesdays  (Classes begin July 13th)

Opals   Hear from the Opal Master himself.  Learn how to value and everything else about opals. Prerequisite: Beginning cabochons.  Instructor: Bill Mattis. 

 Tuition $50


Thursday  (Classes begin July 15)

          Beginning Cabochons   Open to new students and those honing their skills in cutting and polishing stones.  Instructor: Marjorie Marshall. 

 Class limit 8.   Tuition $50

SPECIAL WEEKEND WORKSHOPS


Saturday July 18th

"UFO" (Finishing) (July 18; 10 to 3pm) for students who need to finish a project that wasn't finished in class. Overseers: TBA, depends on which teacher is needed per skill required. Please register early.

Tuition $10

 


 Sunday August 15th

Beginning Wirewrap (Sunday, August 15, 9-4pm) Instructor:  Ellen Schwarzkopf. Tuition $50.
