Schedule: For a schedule of upcoming classes, click on SCHEDULE.

Typical classes:  Beginning Cabochon Cutting is offered every term. The schedule of other classes varies from term to term and may include Faceting, Wire Wrapping, Beading, and Silver Jewelry, among others.  Descriptions for many of our courses may be found at Course Descriptions.

Tuition is $60 per five-week course or one-day workshop, and $120 per ten-week course or two-day workshop.

Prerequisites, Materials and Tools:  No previous experience is needed unless a prerequisite is noted. TLS supplies all of the materials, equipment and tools needed for beginning cabochon and faceting courses. In some courses, there is a modest additional charge for supplies. In some classes a basic tool list may be recommended.

The Facility:  The Education Center is comprised of a fully equipped lapidary shop with work space for cutting, trimming, grinding, sanding, polishing, and faceting. Workspace is also available for instruction in many jewelry arts such as beading, wire wrapping, silversmithing, glass bead making, and metal forming.

Instructional Staff:  The Education Center is staffed by TLS member-instructors who volunteer their time and talent to advance lapidary and related art forms. They are talented hobbyists, not professional lapidaries. Their reward is to see joy on students’ faces when they complete their projects.
