Classes and Seminars TLS offers a series of classes and seminars on lapidary subjects at the Howard Freeman Skill Center located at 105 W. Jasper St., Media, PA. An Associate program has been established to introduce non-members to the hobby of cutting cabochons, faceting, bead-making, jewelry fabrication, and other related subjects. Classes usually offered: Cabochons, Faceting, Beginning Silver, and Bead Stringing.
Classes and seminars sometimes offered: Wire wrapping, Advanced Silver, Advanced Cabochons, Gem Trees, Soapstone Carving, Jade, Chain making, Opals, Gem Identification, Glass Bead Making, Water-poured Pewter, Wax modeling, Pearls, and Scrimshaw.
Classes are offered for 10 week sessions four times a year. Tuition is $95 per session for non-members (Associates), subject to change. Seminar tuition varies according to subject and schedule. Materials are extra in most classes, although machinery owned by the club is used in most classes. Classes offered for the current session Skill Improvement Program (SKIP) A program within Tuscarora Lapidary Society that encourages members to improve existing skills or to begin new ones. Examples of areas covered are Cabochons, Faceting, and Silver Jewelry.
