The Tuscarora Lapidary Society is a non-profit corporation and Pennsylvania Purely Public Charity, organized to encourage and teach the science and art of lapidary, as well as arts and crafts associated with lapidary interests, among any and all members of the general public.
The TLS Educational Program
TLS offers a series of classes and workshops in lapidary and related arts and sciences in three 10-week sessions (fall, winter, and spring) and one 5-week summer session each year. Classes are open to non-member adults, at least 18 years of age, through the TLS Associate Program.
Associate Program: By submitting an Associate Application Form, one becomes eligible to register for classes and to receive notification by email or regular mail of future class schedules.

DIRECTIONS:
TLS is located on Upland Road, just off Rte 352 (also known as Edgmont Avenue) at the southern end of the Brookhaven Shopping Center. The TLS Education Center is a yellow brick building with a flag pole in the front lawn, just behind the CVS Pharmacy that is on the corner of Upland Road and Rte 352.
If you are using a GPS, BE CAREFUL. TLS is located on Upland Road, NOT Upland Avenue which is a mile or so away from our location.
From Rte 1, go south on Rte 352 (Edgmont Avenue) for about 3.5 miles. At the end of the Brookhaven Shopping Center, the right lane of Rte 352 is forced to turn right onto Upland Road. Make that turn, We are the first building on the right after the pharmacy.
If you are going north on Rte 95, take exit 6 for Rte 352 (Edgmont Avenue) north and go about 1.5 miles. Upland Road comes in on the left at the point where Rte 352 widens from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. An MAB paint store is on the far right corner of that intersection of Rte 352 with Upland Road and a CVS Pharmacy is on the far left corner. Turn left onto Upland Road at that intersection. We are the first building on the right after the pharmacy.

Typical classes: The schedule of classes varies from term to term and may include Beginning and Intermediate Cabochons, Faceting, Wire Wrapping, Beading, and Silver Jewelry, among others. Descriptions for many of our courses may be found at Course Descriptions.
Tuition:
$120 for a 10-week course
$60 for a 5-week course.
Tuition varies for weekend workshops and is listed in the schedule for each workshop.
Prerequisites: No previous knowledge or experience is needed to take all but the most advanced courses. TLS supplies all of the materials needed for beginning cabochon and faceting courses; materials for other beginning classes are available for sale from the instructor.
The Facility: The Education Center is comprised of a fully equipped lapidary shop with work space for cutting, trimming, grinding, sanding, polishing, and faceting. Workspace is also available for instruction in many jewelry arts such as beading, wire wrapping, silversmithing, and metal forming.
Instructional Staff: The Education Center is staffed by TLS member/instructors who volunteer their time and talent to teach lapidary skills and related art forms. They are talented hobbyists, not professional lapidaries. Their reward is to see joy on associates’ faces when they complete their projects.
Registration & Application: To apply for Associate status and/or to register for classes, click on the link below to download the Associate Application Form & Class Registration Application, supply the requested information, and mail the form to the TLS Registrar at the address listed at the bottom of the form. By requesting Associate status, you will receive by email or US Mail future announcements of classes and workshops open to members of the general public, and you will be able to register for classes. If you are registering for a class, be sure to include the required tuition and to submit your application prior to the Registration Deadline specified on the Schedule.
