GEMARAMA

2012 will be the 43nd year that Tuscarora Lapidary Society has hosted its annual fine gem, jewelry and mineral show Gemarama. In addition to vendors you would expect at any gem show, a third of the show houses over 30 instructional and competitive cases and a large lapidary arts demonstration area where visitors can see live the cutting of stones, jewelry making, beading, chain making, wirewrapping, and other arts and sciences associated with lapidary. Read on below for a fuller account of all there is to do and see at Gemarama.

At the TLS Booth

The TLS Booth is our operations center for the show, including the public address system and the following activities:

Treasure Wheel

Take YOUR turn at the Treasure Wheel. Every spin a win. Will it be an agate slab? A pair of gemstone earrings? An amethyst specimen? A quartz crystal?

Silent Auction

Bid on one-of-a-kind creations, specimens and books donated by our club members. There will be a minimum bid listed and the time at which the auction will close. If you are the last bidder — the item will be yours. Obtain that piece of malachite or those wonderful hand-crafted earrings that you have always wanted.

Dime Drop

A prize for each dime successfully dropped into the jar in the center of the water jug.

Grab Bags

Mystery treasures for children.

Back Copies of Lapidary Journal, Rock & Gem, etc.

Looking for that particular copy of Lapidary Journal? The TLS booth usually has many copies of past issues for a VERY nominal price.

Concession Stand

You don't need to bring your lunch as the students of the School at Church Farm provide a good choice of excellent quality food at reasonable prices. The sales benefit school organizations such as helping to provide equipment or perhaps team jackets. Now you can stay the entire day at Gemarama!

Parking

There is plenty of parking on site with a handicapped section near the entrance. The show is all on one level and easily accessible.
